Installing Your Space Saver With Pocket Door Frame

By Anita Ortega

Every time we hear a news that there will be an addition in our family, we immediately think about the space that we currently have at home. It seems to be our major priority whenever there is a member coming up. This can even arise when we are expecting a visitor. There are a lot of ways to be able to have enough space or to save some. One of which would be the pocket door.

In doing this, you can ask someone to do it for you and pay him or you can also do it yourself. Be sure that you have a good quality pocket door frame that has a durable hardware. Be sure that your drywall has already been removed as well as the plates, sills and studs.

Your next task would be to attach the split studs. This will be the channel where it is going to ride. Make sure that you attach them to both the floor and the header. If you are ready to hang your new drywall to hide the pocket, make sure that it is opened then attach its drywall to the exterior of the wood beside the split studs.

Then install the brackets. This will be the one to hold the door. After that, try to slide the wheels on it and see if it works properly.

Now time to attach the actual frame to the wheels. Clip the brackets to the pins extending them to the the wheels. You also need to install a guide at the bottom of it so that every time it is being used, the things that you have installed will not be rubbing each other causing damage.

Time to put up the pulls. Every pull sold anywhere comes with its framing kit. You may also add some more accessories to it if you want but you just have to make sure that it will not affect how everything functions. It should also be installed inset of the 2 sides of the door. After putting it in, check whether or not it is blocking the whole operation.

Your drywall will serve as a cover up to your pulls. It must also cover the back of the pocket door. You must have all the things needed to accomplish this.

The next thing you have to do is to install the trim. Measure it properly before cutting. It then has to be installed around your door. Make sure to start on top header then to the side jambs. You have to install a casing trim. You have to use a nail that is 2 x 4s because if you use the longer ones, it might extend too far into the chamber it and scratch it every time it closes and opens.

This sure will be a very good space saver. Make sure that everything is properly placed so you will not have to re do everything. Any installation or application done the wrong way might affect the other ones. It is always better to be accurate so you will not have to repeat all the steps.
