Kitchen Design Mistakes You Need To Avoid

By Elsa Noel

Home renovations can be very demanding. It will demand lots of your time for decision-making, material selections, research, and money. This is also the time where owners bring out their creativity, the chance to change the old ugly kitchen into warming and inviting one. For starters and for those who do their research, listen and learn from the past mistakes of others.

The first mistake that is often committed is that the chosen project is too boring. Every project must have a concept. An element that is very creative and fun. Imagine yourself cooking with very dull arrangement and poor display of cabinetry, utensils, and appliances. Instead of cooking something special you will end up getting annoyed by your environment. The Kitchen Design Maryland should be resembled and built with your personality and taste.

Another mistake that builders commit is wrong placement and arrangement of cabinets. They forget to consider the height and install it in not so high position. Remember that dusts are collected in between the spaces of your cabinet top and ceiling. Others would place their things on the cabinet top making it untidy and ugly sight.

Third mistake is overdoing the concept and elements. You must know when to stop. Most people overdesign and they do not realize it until there are too many things put into the place leaving not enough space. A playful control with colors will mellow the room without putting too much effort with furniture and accessories.

The fourth error is placing too much appliances and stuff. It is better, refreshing, and tidy if use the cabinets to cover and conceal these stainless-steel stuffs. It will just damage the balance and rhythm. Worse case scenario, your kitchenette appears so uncomfortable and small due to huge refrigerators, oven, water dispenser, and other devices that look box coffins.

Small space is not good. This perception is baseless and totally wrong. Space is not an issue. This mistake is always committed by most homeowner. Always remember that your kitchenette must serve its purpose and that is giving you comfort and control when you do the cooking. The function is very clear.

The sixth mistake is placing too many cabinets thereby filling up your walls. Try to create a good layout that will balance aesthetics, functionality, and storage needs. Do not forget the importance of space as it allows you to breathe and you are more in control of the place rather than the other way around.

The seventh mistake is poor quality choice of materials. Always opt for strong hinges, quality cabinet knobs, and intricate hardwood cabinetry or stainless cabinetry designs. This is an investment and you must put everything that is worth the price into the project or else you will end up spending for repairs and replacements.

Last but not the least mistake is the selection of style and size of the countertop. It must fit with the space available. The size should be enough to serve its purpose. It could take a big space of the kitchenette and it cost a lot of cash to correct mistakes.
