Change Your Home Decor With An Area Rug Set And More

By Serena Price

Everyone falls into ruts sometimes and becomes bored or depressed with life. This may be due to circumstances or emotional issues, but it may be the result of monotony. Sometimes you just need a change. Once way to make things feel new and different is to re-decorate your living space. Buy a new area rug set, or paint a room. Below you will find a few suggestions for transforming your home to make it feel new.

1. Rugs/Carpets. Rugs and carpeting can add a whole new feeling to a living room, den, or bedroom. Carpeting can be great in a house that you own and want to invest money into, but it can be expensive, and if you rent, the landlord may not allow such a significant change. In this case, rugs can be a great solution, because they are easily removable.

3. Put up artwork. Any kind of artwork, such as paintings or sculptures, can be a great addition to a home. If you are an artistic person, consider putting your own work on display. If you have loved ones who paint, draw, or sculpt, show their work in your home. If neither of these things is true, you can buy art in galleries, on the internet, or at art fairs to give your home some personality.

3. Get a new piece of furniture. Even one new item, like a sofa or a chair, can add a new vibe to a room. If you look around you can find furniture for great prices. You may find things online, or take advantage of sales in physical stores. Check out the thrift stores, too! Many people even make great finds by picking up discarded furniture that others have thrown away on the curb. This can be risky because of bedbugs, but you can sometimes find great stuff.

4. Move things around. Rearrange the set-up of a room, or completely switch around the purposes of rooms. This costs absolutely nothing, and still makes things feel new. If you don't like it, you can simply switch everything back to the way it was.

5. Create more space by organizing. If you have a room that is cluttered with books, toys, or stuffed animals, find ways to store and organize the clutter. Reducing clutter reduces stress, and will make you feel much better about your surroundings.

6. Paint rooms or walls. Painting might sound like a job that should only be done professionally, and this is usually true if you want your whole house painted. But one room, or even one wall, could be a manageable project for a novice painter. Pick a color you love, and try a small room, like the bathroom. Or, paint just one wall of your living room in a color that compliments the one that is already there.

There are many ways to change the look and feel of your living space. Buying an area rug set, painiting a wall, or hanging new art will help your home to feel fresh and new. Sometimes, all you need to improve your outlook on life is a change in your surroundings. You can get that change without moving, simply by taking some of these suggestions. Try them out, and see if the change helps.
